We’re So Here!
Author: Karen Shaw
It has recently come to my attention that many of the travellers from north of this wonderful chain of islands full of unspoiled white sandy beaches that we call home, are being told to stay away due to reports that many of the islands were destroyed during hurricanes Hannah and Ike.
I am here to tell you we are alive and well and it’s business as usual (other than one of our chain - Grand Turk) still reeling from some of the damage. It too is being brought back to life with the aid of the Red Cross, British government, businesses and private citizens helping with building supplies, time, food and basically banding together to help one another in a time of crisis. The cruise ship terminal is already coming in again to the port there.
As far as Providenciales, the most inhabited of the chain and largest draw for tourists, thankfully you wouldn’t know it as anything but a distant memory! Our white sandy beaches are intact, the beachfront homes and condos are being rented, new divers and beachcombers are just finding us (that’s always fun for us to see through their new eyes the things we start to take for granted after so many years living here).
Come on down and see why we are still “beautiful by nature”!
